What to Look For on a Tour
Pay attention to atmosphere above all else. Does the home smell pleasant? Do staff greet residents by name? Are residents engaged in activities, or sitting passively? Trust your instincts — warmth cannot be faked consistently.
Questions to Ask the Care Team
Ask about staff turnover (high turnover is a red flag), how care plans are created and updated, and how family feedback is incorporated. Ask to see the most recent CQC inspection report. A confident, open care team will welcome every question.
